Strategic Review of Health and Medical Research in Australia

Review Panel: Private Meeting 7

Update: 30 May 2012

The Panel of the Strategic Review of Health and Medical Research in Australia held its 7th private meeting on Wednesday 30 May 2012 in Brisbane.

The Panel called for written submissions in early February 2012, with 317 submissions received.

An extensive, Australia-wide series of public meetings and private stakeholder consultations was initiated in mid April 2012, with meetings held so far in Hobart, Canberra, Melbourne, Darwin and Brisbane.

The submissions, private stakeholder consultations and public meetings have brought forward a wide range of health and medical research issues, with a number of key themes repeated by various groups across Australia.

The Panel's remaining public meeting schedule is as follows:

  • Adelaide: 5 June 2012 — 1.30 to 3.30 pm  Adelaide Convention Centre, North Terrace
  • Perth: 6 June 2012 — 2.00 - 4.00 pm,  Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, 21 Mounts Bay Road
  • Sydney: 5 July 2012 — (afternoon) time & venue TBA

Information about time and venue for Sydney will be posted on the Review website shortly ( http://www.mckeonreview.org.au/9884/Public_Consultation/ )

For logistics and planning purposes, the Panel urges all individual stakeholders and organisations, interested in attending the public meetings, to register their interest on the Review website. Confirmation emails will be sent to all people who have email addresses registered with the review.

The Panel is to provide a report to the Australian Government in late 2012 which will include recommendations for a 10-year, national, strategic health and medical research plan.

The Panel's next private meeting is scheduled for early July 2012 in Sydney.
